About the Job

The assignment involves being the department head for two units: Infection Control and the management of Diagnostic Systems.

The Infection Control unit is to provide good service and expertise to the various health and medical care administrations and all municipalities in Region Halland. The operation is dynamic with a strategy to work on continuous improvements to meet healthcare needs while maintaining a good working environment. The Infection Control unit in Region Halland has employees located in Varberg and Halmstad. Region Halland is facing extensive changes in the coming years, where a new local supply plan will be implemented in all three hospital areas. Infection Control will be an important player in this work and is expected to contribute its expertise to the development.

The management of Diagnostic Systems is a newly established unit within the clinic and is tasked with ensuring the operation, stability, and development of our medical technology systems in accordance with the goals of the operation. As department head, you will have the opportunity to build the unit from the ground up and shape working methods together with the employees. The management of Diagnostic Systems provides consolidated support to all laboratory operations within the area – Clinical Chemistry and Transfusion Medicine, Clinical Microbiology, and Clinical Pathology and Cytology. The management of Diagnostic Systems has employees located in Varberg and Halmstad.

What are the expectations for the position?

As a manager within Region Halland, you have two clear assignments; to steer and lead with a focus on results and to engage and motivate your employees. As a manager, you are responsible for the work environment and finances, as well as having an overarching strategic focus on development and improvement work within the department. You are expected to steer and lead with a focus on results and to strive for high quality and efficiency. Together with your employees, you work to continuously improve the operation and create a positive collaboration and cooperation climate.

The position also includes the role of application owner, where you have overall responsibility for the medical technology systems in the operation, budget, and represent the management of Diagnostic Systems in the management group of the regional IT organization.

As department head, you are expected to be physically present for your employees both in Varberg and Halmstad.

About the Workplace

Clinical Microbiology and Infection Control is a region-wide clinic consisting of three units: Clinical Microbiology, Infection Control, and management of Diagnostic Systems, located in two locations. The management group consists of the operations manager, department heads, and medically responsible managers who are adjourned as needed.

Approximately 60 employees work within the entire clinic, consisting of professional groups: infection control nurses, infection control physicians, application leaders, application specialists, biomedical analysts, laboratory assistants, laboratory aides, laboratory technicians, physicians, microbiologists, molecular biologists, medical secretaries, and administrative staff.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an appropriate higher education/university degree, or equivalent knowledge that we consider comparable. It is a requirement that you have previous experience in healthcare, and we would prefer that you have worked clinically. If you have management experience and training in leadership as well as experience in change management and development and improvement work, we see this as meritorious. We view positively if you have an interest in medical technology systems within healthcare.

To succeed and thrive in the role, you have a genuine interest in leading and developing others, as well as the ability to motivate and drive change processes and operational development. As a person, you find it easy to collaborate and create good relationships both within and outside your own operation. You are clear in your communication and have the ability to adapt your message to each target group and situation. We see that you possess the ability to integrate different perspectives into a whole and to actively collaborate with others to achieve common goals. Furthermore, you need to have overarching system competence, that is, an understanding of your own role and how the parts of the whole work together within healthcare. You are a person with good self-awareness who strives to be a role model.

To ensure good and safe communication with colleagues, customers, and other contacts both regionally and nationally, we require good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

Recruitment Process

Interviews are scheduled for February 19th in the morning.

If you proceed in the recruitment process after the first interview, a personality test and a final interview with the recruiting manager, department head, and HR partner, as well as an interview with union representatives from the local collaboration group will take place.
